
Martha Kaufeldt is a veteran K-12 teacher, author, and popular international presenter on brain compatible learning, differentiated instruction, assessment, and integrated curriculum development. In California she served as the director and trainer for the Bay Area Middle Schools project for five years. For over 25 years Martha put her expertise into practice on a daily basis as a High School English and Drama teacher, a Middle School Humanities Core teacher on an Interdisciplinary Team, and as the Intermediate Lead Teacher at an alternative public elementary school. Martha is skillful in translating recent brain research and how it should guide educational practices, instructional strategies, and curriculum design. Her audiences appreciate her personable and humorous style. Her first book "Begin With the Brain: Orchestrating the Learner-Centered Classroom." ( first published by Zephyr Press, 1999) continues to be a best –seller. Corwin Press will release the 2nd Edition this year. Her most recent book, "Teachers, Change Your Bait! Brain-Compatible Differentiated Instruction," (Crown House Publishing, 2005) provides practical classroom strategies.
