Dr. Carl Glickman

A provocative analysis of the real achievement, economic , and citizenship gap and what students, faculty, parents and community members can do to deliver on the promise of public purpose. The conventions wisdom about schools must be replaced with a deeper understanding of thoughtful leadership which challenges all students to connect to learning to an ever changing future.

Carl Glickman is President of the Institute for Schools, Education and Democracy inc. in Athens, Georgia. For more than two decades, he was University Professor of Education at he University of Georgia and remains founder and advisor, to the Georgia league of Professional Schools (a nationally validated network of K through 12 schools devoted to democratic learning of all students). Most recently, he held the first Mitte Endowed Chair in School Improvement at Texas University - San Marcos.

Dr. Glickman is the author of thirteen books on school leadership, educational renewal, and the moral imperative of education, His works have far reaching impact on educational thinking and we are honoured to have him deliver the Manitoba ASCD annual Distinguished Lecture. In addition to delivering this year's Manitoba ASCD Distinguished Lecture, Dr. Glickman is also one of this year's Distinguished Lecturers at the ASCD International Conference in Chicago.
